Vista Composite Doors - the 'Picture' of thermal efficiency for Salix Homes and the New Barracks Estate
Vista Group Plc has recently been involved with housing provider Salix Homes to provide front and rear composite door sets that would meet the stringent energy efficiency and environmental impact targets of the Tenancy Management Organisation (TMO) of The New Barracks Co - Op in Ordsall, Salford. This is the oldest council owned property in central Salford, with 79 Properties (2 & 3 bed roomed houses), together with 12 owner-occupied properties.
The New Barracks Co - Op has responsibility for the management and maintenance of this historically important and prestigious estate located in the Ordsall district of the City of Salford.
Working in close partnership with the TMO and Salix Homes, Vista was tasked to provide a Pas: 23 & 24 and 'Secured by Design' door set which would contribute to the overall thermal efficiency of the property in styles and colours that displayed empathy with the original designs of the properties.
Jo Rogan the project officer for Salix Homes responsible for the New Barracks Estate says: "The TMO were very keen on improving energy efficiency whilst reducing their carbon footprint to the properties on New Barracks Estate. They have a special group called "Greening the Co-Op," who worked closely with Salix Homes. The scheme includes new central heating systems with condenser boilers, mechanical ventilation system, electrical upgrades/rewires, new kitchens & bathrooms, new windows & doors and an internal retro fit of insulation lining to exterior walls."
She continues: "We had the thermal imaging done on two pilot properties which have recently been completed. There was a lot of discussion on doors including a trip to Vista's factory. We used the thermal image of the doors because we felt it had the maximum impact. That certainly proved to be the case. The property next door to the one fitted with one of Vista's GRP composite doors is a wooden panel door. We had to convince residents that it wasn't a glass panelled one when we showed the images at the recent launch event."
Tenants have been able to select their preferred styles and colours from a tenant's choice leaflet specially prepared for the contract.
Commenting on the ongoing partnership, Vista's MD Keith Sadler said: "They say a picture's worth a thousand words; these pictures demonstrate the superior insulation these doors provide far more effectively than I ever could. I'm very proud of what we have achieved together in association with our partners Salix Homes and The New Barracks Co Op. The combination of unequalled thermal efficiency together with the style, quality, service and choice we offer has once again proved Vista to be the right partner for all involved in the social housing sector."
