Stainless steel vs. zinc door hardware

Some materials really are perfectly suited for use in composite doors and PVCu panels. At Vista, we offer the option of stainless steel hardware with all of our doors precisely because of how well the material is suited to use in door hardware.

Stainless steel door hardware

The high-performing properties of stainless steel makes it the perfect material from which to construct the hardware of our doors. Extremely durable, resistant to corrosion and staining, and requiring very little maintenance, our stainless steel hardware really can enhance the performance of a composite or PVCu door.

How it works

The element that gives stainless steel its brilliant durability is chromium. Unprotected carbon steel is susceptible to rust from moisture and air, and without protection is liable to corrode. Stainless steel, on the other hand, has a layer of chromium oxide that stops oxygen from reaching the surface of the steel, for extreme protection against the elements.

Zinc door hardware

We always use stainless steel hardware over other materials, including zinc. Zinc is liable to pitting over the years, especially in harsher environments such as coastal properties or other houses exposed to the elements. Our hardware is ideal for every installation.
